Qom carpets

Qom Persian silk carpets are also known as Ghom, Qum, Ghum. They originate in the Iranian city of Qom around 100 km south of Tehran. Area rugs such as these Persian rugs are usually composed of silk on silk, however they can also be composed of wool.  They are considered luxury carpets and usually have a high knot density.  Because of their reputation, these carpets are regarded as the most expensive in the world.  Qom rugs are considered an investment as their value keeps increasing. The weaver's signature is often woven into the rug. Because of the fine threads, these rugs are thin and delicate and very luxurious. Patterns include floral motifs and curvilinear vines, as well as pictorial. Qom rugs are often placed on walls.
